Rob has been working professionally for over 20 years across both industry-facing contexts and educational training environments.

As a Musical Director, he is an accomplished conductor, with experience spanning choral and orchestral settings, as well as musical theatre productions in roles including MD and Musical Supervisor.

Rob is passionate about actor training and has been an educator throughout his career, specialising in higher education. He spent nine years as Head of Singing at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (School of Acting), where he developed and led a well-respected Foundation in Acting course. Prior to this, he ran a successful Musical Theatre degree programme. Many graduates from these courses have gone on to successful professional careers.

His experience has led to work as an academic advisor to a range of performing arts training providers, seeing him contribute to the sector as a consultant and external examiner, specialising in actor training, musical theatre provision and performing arts development.

In addition to his freelance and consultancy work, Rob contributes to the development of independent training and production initiatives. He is co-founder of ETA Performance, a creative and educational hub producing new and published musical theatre works, alongside offering professional performer training.

Rob also runs a private singing practice, working with clients from across the performing arts sector, regardless of background, experience, or motivation. His approach is tailored to the individual, empowering performers through increased technical understanding, confidence, and sustainable vocal technique, always working in a way that supports each person’s unique vocal set-up.

As a composer and arranger, he has written original material across a range of genres and maintains an extensive catalogue of vocal and choral work.

Being a highly collaborative practitioner, Rob has enjoyed working across a diverse range of projects, from international retreats and cruise ship cast installations to improvised performance work for, among others, chocolate companies.
